Today we were back to classes after a delicious sun soaked weekend. As a Monday treat, the girls and I decided to go grab sushi for lunch in Nice. Afterwards, we departed to the beach with other Azurlingua students to do parasailing! Wendy stayed back to nap, but I made sure to take a video of Allison flying high above the ocean! After time at the beach, we came back for dinner then left promptly afterwards to spend time with our language partner, Tiffany. We spent two hours walking around the Porte of Nice and stopping for a soda next to the pier. It was a lovely evening spent in great company!  IMG_1296 IMG_1293 IMG_1278 IMG_1260

Today was a much appreciated Sunday Funday in Cannes! And fun it was. We arrived in Cannes by train at around 10am and promptly found ourselves exploring the festival palace. We took our time reading the signed handprints of many famous Hollywood movie stars lining the palace. We then found ourselves at the beach where we proceeded to picnic, swim, and enjoy lounging in the sun. The rest of the afternoon took us on an excursion through old Cannes, stopping to enjoy macaroons at the infamous Lauderée shop. We were brought back to Nice on a late afternoon train where we returned to the residences for a shower and a squid dinner before heading into Nice to watch France beat Iceland in the semi finals of the Euro cup!   IMG_1186 IMG_1182 IMG_1172

Wow, what a full Saturday the girls and I had in Monaco! At about 9:30am this morning, our group plus the Italian, Mexican and Russian group departed by bus to Monaco with our tour guide, Franck. By 11am we were off to our first attraction: we watched as the Royal Palace guards changed shifts. This is a very intricate affair with shouted commands and marching. We then paused to eat our sack lunch on a panoramic look out point of Monaco. Our next stop was to the local church to see exquisite architecture as well as the grave of the famous, Grace Kelly, princess of Monaco. Afterwards, we headed over to the local aquarium where we spent almost two hours admiring all sorts of tropical fish. The girls even pet a shark!! Our day finished with a walk all throughout Monaco, ending in front of, of course, the Monte Carlo Casino. The bus brought us back to the residences about 7pm, where the girls and I ate dinner and have been enjoying a relaxing night in!  IMG_1162 IMG_1161 IMG_1160 IMG_1159 IMG_1156 IMG_1126 IMG_1118

July 1st

Today was a much needed down day! After class, the girls decided to go off campus to a sushi restaurant down the street for lunch. After lunch, we spent some time in the local laundromat chatting with the locals, and of course, washing some clothes. Post laundry entailed shopping and beach time, both of which were gratifying and well-deserved. Dinner was a plate of pasta and turkey at the dining hall, wherein a late night stroll in Vieux Nice and video games topped off a wonderfully relaxing Friday!

Last Night in Spain!

Today we started off with an early morning kayak along the gorgeous shoreline. We kayaked under waterfalls and into caves! We were lucky that it was a bit foggy to avoid too much sun!

After that we took the group to a local pizzeria, which was a big hit.

Afterwards we had a long afternoon of free time for the beach and/or shopping.

For our last dinner we sang cumpleaños feliz to Raquele and then had watched a slideshow that we put together to highlight the many components of the trip!!

We did a round of shout outs and then called it a night!

We are sad to end the trip, but also very excited to return home to our loving families!

This has been an excellent trip.

Hasta luego chicos..Muuuchas Gracias! 🙂
