Our Last Day in France: Exploring Versailles

Europe: The Final Countdown

Yesterday was our last day in Paris! I cannot believe how fast this month has flown! This group has been amazing, and it has been so much fun traveling together. I hope you all had as much fun as I did!

A visit to Versailles

For our final outing, we went big: Le Château de Versailles! The home of the French monarchy, starting with Louis XIV, Versailles makes the Louvre seem tiny in comparison. Practically every inch of Versailles’ interior is adorned in gold or jewels, and the intricate gardens stretch as far as you can see. We also saw one of the most famous rooms in the world: The Hall of Mirrors.

Crêpes in the heart of the city

After taking in all the luxury we could handle, we returned to Paris for more shopping and sightseeing on the Champs-Élysées and Les Halles, the city’s famous market area. We had dinner in a crêpery on the Île St-Louis, the very heart of the city, before heading back to pack up for the journey home.

Au revoir, Paris!

We are traveling home today, and while we will miss France and our new friends, we are also excited for home, sweet home! It has been a great pleasure being with this marvelous group. I hope they all continue to speak French, travel the world, and become global citizens!
