Hola a todos!

Today was a bittersweet day as it was our last day here in Barcelona and the last day of our trip. In the morning, we took a gondola ride up to Montjuic, the mountain that overlooks the city and Mediterranean. Up on Montjuic, we saw the old castle/military stronghold that used to protect the city then took a walk to the Olympic Stadium where the 1992 Olympics were held.

In the afternoon, the group had lunch in the Poble-sec district then we visited “La Boquería”, Barcelona’s open-air market filled with stands of colorful fruit, delicious fruit juices and fresh cheeses, meats and other delicatessens.

In the evening, we had a farewell dinner of pizza and salad and the group had a great time talking about the highlights of the trip and what they liked/appreciated about each member of the group.

On a personal note, I’ve had a great time with the group this year. The students’ eagerness to learn, and desire to throw themselves into the Spanish culture and this experience, was very refreshing and great to see. Many memories were made, many laughs were shared and some very strong relationships were built. I hope the experience will be something the students will always carry with them.

Here in Spain they don’t like to “adios”, instead the say “hasta pronto!”, so I wish everyone the best of luck and see you all soon!
