Thursday July 2nd

Off to Antibes!!! After classes we hopped on the train to beautiful Antibes.  We started off with a visit to Musée Picasso which was enjoyed by all. Afterwards we crept through the “remparts” of the old city and headed to Plage la Gavette … our first sandy beach !!! We spent some times swimming in the cove before heading back home for dinner. To end the night we headed back into town for a gelato and sunset gazing on the beach.

Wednesday July 1st

Today we visited an old Monastery located in the hilltops of Nice, and
then made our way through the Arènes de Oliviers to the Matisse Museum
to take in some artwork by a Nice legend.

After stopping at Fennochio’s for some cactus gelato (yum!), we hopped
on the train touristique and made our way through Vieux Nice and up
through the mountains to take in Nice’s most picturesque view, Quelle
journée!!!

Monday June 29th

Another great day in Nice! The day began with the students’ French placement test in the morning, followed by lunch at Parc Impérial.
After lunch we headed into town to the Musée Massena, where we learned about the history of Nice and the importance of the “Boulevard Anglais” and the current mayor’s desire to make it a UNESCO site.
After the museum, we headed into Vieux Nice for a walking tour with yet another gelato stop. One of the best ways to beat the heat!
Afterwards we headed to the beach and spent the day relaxing in the sun and swimming off the gelato. We were having such a good time we decided to grab pizzas and bring them back down to the beach to enjoy while watching the sunset.
Everyone is excited for what tomorrow has in store!

Sunday June 28th

Yesterday we spent the day settling in and getting to know each other better. Despite the jet lag everyone was experiencing we managed to head to downtown Nice for a stroll and a quick shop for some basics. After a great French dinner back at the residence we all decided to rest up and head to bed early, knowing the following day would be packed with fun things to do!

Sunday morning greeted us with a “pain au chocolat” and other delicious breakfast items. Soon after we headed into town to take in the sights and get familiar with what would be our “home” for the next two weeks.
After exploring the fruit market in “Vieux Nice” we grabbed a sandwich or salad for lunch and headed to the beach where we enjoyed a day relaxing in the sun, swimming, floating on inner tubes and taking in the lovely beach scenery.
After a quick (but necessary!) stop for gelato we headed back to Parc Impérial for a quick rest and change before heading back into town for an ECI welcome dinner, enjoyed by all at “Le Safari”and followed by a two-hour session with native French speakers who did a great job at prepping us for our first French class tomorrow morning.
All in all was a fun-packed and amazing day! We are all excited to see what the French classes will bring tomorrow!

A bientôt !!!!
