Nice July 4th

We were so fortunate to meet one of our familles d’accueil a bit early! Andrea and Sylviane came into Nice to spend some time with our group. We watched the Germany-France game and had ice cream and pizza.

Tomorrow we will mingle with the rich and famous in St. Tropez – stay tuned for any celebrity sightings! Ciao!

Nice July 2nd

Last night our first language partner evening was a great success. We discussed french slang, music, and niçoise cuisine with Clement and Jonathan – all in French! We tried socca, a traditional niçoise pancake-like snack made with chick peas, and watched some break dancers on Place Massena. We can’t wait to meet them again next week!

Today we are in Eze at the parfumerie Galimard. We took a tour of the factory and perused the gift shop for souvenirs and presents. After the tour, we wandered through the medieval streets of beautiful Eze. A coffee on the Chateau Eze terrace to take in the breathtaking vista was the perfect pause.

Nice July 1st

As classes get underway, we are adjusting nicely to our French routine and thoroughly enjoying the view from our classrooms. We spent a full afternoon on the beach and then wandered through the ‘Zone piétonne’ and admired the shops – streets of Chanel and Hermès – très chic!!

Sushi for dinner – not very french – but still delicious, and then a quick trip into town to support the Americans in the World Cup. Not the results we wanted, but we still have France and Brasil!

Today we are shopping on Jean Médecin, and tomorrow we go to Eze! Gross bisous!! X

Nice June 30th

The day today started bright and early with our French placement exams.  Pas de probleme! We then took a tour around Old Nice and learned about some of the city’s history and famous landmarks.  Our tour ended with a walk along the Promenade down to the Port, where we took a tour of the Florian Confiserie, or candy shop.  This shop opened in in 1949 in the Gorges de Loup, and after great success with their unique candy making process, the family opened a shop in the port of Nice.  How amazing to try rose petal and lavender jam!
Tonight we take on the town with “Nice by Night” — but not too late as we have our first official day of French class tomorrow! A demain!

Nice by night

Nice: June 29th

After a win for our Brazilian ECI group members, we’re now cheering on Mexico with some new friends from Azurlingua. The World Cup is such an exciting time to be at an international school! Tomorrow we are ready to start our French lessons and then visit Florian, a specialty candy factory, to discover the secrets of making caramelized fruits and candied flowers. Miam! A demain! 🙂
