Sunday June 26th

Day three in Nice was all about relaxation – though the girls and I did do quite a bit of walking! This morning we ate our sac lunch near the gardens of Nice, then wondered around the Galeries Lafayette. After some shopping, we headed straight for the beach, picking up a rainbow colored beach parasol on the way. We relaxed on the beach and then had dinner back at our residences hall some hours later. (We had the adventure of taking the local bus back to the residence, though I think the girls were just grateful to have the opportunity to rest while waiting for the bus!). This evening the girls met their language partner Tiffany. We spent more than two hours walking, having a soda by the beach, trying out a new ice cream spot and of course, speaking French! The girls are really keeping busy and starting to switch into French mode.  IMG_1001

We had another busy day in Nice today. After a lovely breakfast at our hotel and some post pain au chocolat exploring, we checked out of our hotel and checked in to Parc Imperial Residences! The staff greeted us with smiles and an abundance of information about upcoming activities. We then took our sac lunch to the beach (of course)! We passed the afternoon swimming in the sea and taking in some of the local sights. After dinner back at the residence hall, we went on an excursion with the rest of the school group into Nice for some more sight seeing and ice cream!! My pick: white chocolate and Oreo ; Allison’s pick: strawberry and Nutella ; Wendy’s pick: raspberry and Irish coffee!  IMG_0994 IMG_0993 IMG_0992 b2e5081d-e8ff-4305-9df5-d2e8c3dc2da8

June 24th

What an incredible first day! We hit the ground running and these girls were troopers – they made it through hours of travel and then an entire day of walking around Nice without falling asleep once! (Well, there might have been a bit of afternoon snoozing on the beach…). Once checking in to our hotel, the girls and I grabbed a quick lunch of sandwiches next to the train station in Nice. We then took a train ride to a mall outside of Nice to get the girls set up with their phone plans. After a ride back into Nice, we promptly headed for the beach! We bathed in the sun and took our first few dips into the ocean. Afterwards, we walked the famous Promenade des Anglais, and wondered around a bit of Old Town Nice, ultimately stopping for a dinner of hand-made gnocchi, rabbit (yes, you read that right) and ravioli! A beautiful sunset walk back to our hotel was the perfect completion to the first day of our France adventures.  IMG_0967 IMG_0969-1 IMG_0976-1
