Hello ECI parents and travelers!

My name is Dave Whiteside and I’m from a small town south of San Francisco called Los Gatos. I studied at San Jose State University and upon finishing my degree there I promptly went to Granada, Spain to complete a four-month language and cultural immersion program. I fell in love with the city and Spanish culture and, after returning to California for 2 years (with a month-long stay in Antigua, Guatemala in between), I returned to the city as an English language assistant. I have just completed my third year here with plans of coming back in the fall for a fourth.

My name is Erin Simmeth and I am thrilled to be leading the ECI Nice trip this summer! I am originally from the East Coast but have called the San Francisco Bay Area home for almost ten years. I have taught French to students from grade four through the college level, and I currently teach at an online high school. This will be my second trip to France with ECI, and my sixth time traveling in France. You could say that I am addicted to all things French!

Study Abroad in Spain - When? Where? How?

The simple choice is between studying abroad in college or while still in high school.

Most universities offer a Study Abroad program, arranged through a Spanish university, usually lasting between three months and a year. A great way to spend part of your college years, but more and more students are choosing to take their opportunity to study abroad in Spain earlier and are instead opting to take part in summer programs while still in high school, most often during their junior or senior year.

Summer high school Study Abroad programs in Spain are put together by experienced organizations specializing in offering group and individual immersion opportunities to high school students during the months of July and August.
